Razvoj shvatanja o psihopatskom poremećaju ličnosti od značaja za psihologiju kriminala

Psihopatski poremećaj ličnosti blizu dva veka zaokuplja pažnju naučnika i stručnjaka različitih orijentacija. Tokom tog vremena učinjeni su brojni pokušaji njegove konceptualizacije i rekonceptualizacije, uključujući i nebrojene promene naziva, ali se u svima njima manje ili više eksplicitno ovaj poremećaj ličnosti povezuje sa antisocijalnim i kriminalnim ponašanjem. Nimalo slučajno, najduže se, do danas, zadržao psihološki pojam psihopatija. O opravdanosti očuvanja pojma psihopatija svedoče brojna istraživanja, između ostalog i studije Momirovića i dr. (2002) koje pružaju pouzdane naučne dokaze da je reč o psihološkom poremećaju ličnosti, štaviše o psihološkom entitetu, od ključne važnosti za kriminal.
