Toward History of Private Security

In this article, we tried to mark certain historical periods, important for recognising early stages of private security activities and their development directions. In those early stages, we searched for the development of legislation processes in Western European countries, especially in England, which, in literature, is considered the cradle of the modern private security industry. Modern processes of socialisation of security function give us the impression of closing a historical circle in the development of security, from individual/collective protection of life and property, via state-centred security performance, up to contemporary processes of socialisation/individualisation of security.
