About the Journal
GENERAL INFORMATION
Zbornik Instituta za kriminološka i sociološka istraživanja, or Journal of the Institute of Criminological and Sociological Research (Zbornik IKSI), is a scientific journal published by the Institute of Criminological and Sociological Research, continuously in print since 1972. Since its establishment, the journal has followed developments in the social sciences, with a particular focus on criminology, sociology, and related disciplines. The journal has been issued three times a year since 2016, and as of 2025, it is officially categorised as a leading national scientific journal. An electronic edition is also being introduced, starting with Issue 3 (2025).
Zbornik IKSI publishes previously unpublished scientific and professional contributions from a broad range of social science disciplines, including original research articles, review articles, short communications (preliminary reports), scientific critiques, debates and commentaries, professional papers, book reviews, and other article types in accordance with the applicable Rulebook on the Categorisation and Ranking of Scientific Journals. The journal focuses on theoretical, empirical, methodological, and comparative research addressing contemporary social phenomena and issues.
Zbornik IKSI aims to advance science and professional practice, as well as to improve research in the fields it covers. The journal fulfils scientific, educational, and societal functions by publishing research relevant not only to Serbia but also to the broader European and international context.
Aims & Scope
The journal provides a forum for the dissemination of theoretical, empirical, methodological, and comparative research in criminology, sociology, victimology, penology, social pathology, psychology, special education, and related interdisciplinary fields. It welcomes contributions addressing crime, victimisation, social control, criminal justice, social problems, education, and broader social processes relevant to contemporary societies at national, regional, and international levels.
The journal publishes theoretical, empirical, methodological, and comparative studies, as well as review articles and other scientific and professional contributions, in accordance with its editorial policy.
Manuscripts are accepted in Serbian and English. All published articles include the title, abstract, and keywords in both Serbian and English.
Target Audience
The journal is intended for researchers, academics, doctoral and postgraduate students, practitioners, policymakers, and professionals working in criminology, sociology, criminal justice, social policy, education, and related disciplines.
The journal is open to all researchers globally, regardless of gender, career stage or ethnic and religious affiliation.
Editorial Policy & Peer Review
The journal’s editorial policy is implemented by the Editorial Board and the Editorial Office. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s initial editorial requirements are submitted to a double-anonymised peer-review process. The final decision on manuscript acceptance is made by the Editor-in-Chief in accordance with the reviewers’ recommendations and the journal’s editorial policy.
Journal Categorisation and Indexation
According to the official classification by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia for 2025, the journal Zbornik IKSI is categorised as a Leading National Scientific Journal (M51 category).
All published articles are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) through Crossref, and the journal’s content is indexed and discoverable via Google Scholar.
Open Access Policy
The Zbornik IKSI journal is published in accordance with the open access principles. The journal publishes all content under the principles of open access and applies the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. All content is freely available to users who may read, download, copy, distribute, print, and search the full text of articles, as well as create links to the published works without prior permission from the publisher or authors. The journal does not impose any embargo on published content.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
The journal does not charge any article processing charges (APCs), submission fees, publication fees, or any other publication-related fees. Submission, peer review, editorial processing, and publication are entirely free of charge for all authors.
Funding Statement
The publication of Zbornik IKSI is co-funded by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia through its programme of supporting scientific journals. Financial support for the journal does not influence its editorial policy, the peer-review process, or editorial decisions regarding the acceptance of manuscripts for publication.
