Abstract

In further research, we have discussed the relations between violent criminal behaviour and the two criminogenic factors that are mentioned relatively often in the anamnesis of a delinquent: the primary family pathology and affiliation with criminal groups. After initial consideration of the results acquired from the relevant research, we have presented the results obtained by testing 356 adult criminals, with an average age of 36, who have been convicted of a violent criminal offence. We were testing hypotheses on how the earlier-mentioned etiologic factors affect criminal behaviour, and also the hypothesis which claims that the primary family pathology and affiliation with criminal groups are a part of the psychological, not sociological, measuring field. By using adequate instruments and statistical techniques, it was determined that both factors have an effect on the group with conative faculties, as opposed to the sociological (and cognitive) ones. In addition to that, it was concluded that the variable of affiliation with criminal groups functions as an independent regressor to the criminal behaviour and that it distinguishes the perpetrators of criminal assaults, whilst the variable of primary family pathology does not have a significant impact on criminal behaviour as an independent regressor.
